Well over the years I've worked on it here and there, since I'm still in love with the characters I created. As my art improved (despite not practicing....) and my original story matured, I decided I would redo the comic eventually, creating a much more linear storyline and give the characters more dimensionality.
I know, I know. Some of you are reading this and realize I've been saying I've wanted to work on, or have been doing things related to the comic for years. I have no plans on doing this as regularly as possible. The current plan is to work on it when I have time, try to write what I can and then run it by Sisco and M.
Sisco would technically be my co-author as he's the leading authority on all things Amano. M would be my go to girl for many things comic related, as well as helping me get a fresh pair of eyes on pacing, and how the average reader would make sense of the writing in general. I couldn't do this without either of them. Last but not least, I should give credit to my good friend Jess for helping keep me inspired to do my comic by working on one herself.
Hopefully you guys will start seeing some artwork for the revamped Ne0 Pirates (possible title change, no idea yet) in the near future. I'm starting to set up and experiment on how I'm actually going to do the comic. I'm going to work in large scale (11 x 17), try inking by hand first (with lots of white out....), scanning and then coloring digitally. I haven't decided my coloring style yet, but I have a feeling it'll be a blend between smooth shading and cel shaded. Smooth for colors, cel for shadows and lights likely. I'll have to play with it. The comic is most likely going to be full color and hosted on here as a tab, or possibly linked from here. I still need to work out how I want to solve navigation. So much to do, so much homework to procrastinate on by working on my comic........wait a second....I'm not supposed to be typing that!
That probably is a sign that I should be heading to bed. Guess I should obey my yawning, groggy body. Good night and help motivate me to work on this project =)
